#adoptaCanine: Nico {Luv-A-Bullz}
If you have been a long time reader of this blog, or if you know me in real life, then you pretty much know about my addiction to any and all animals (except reptiles). My heart coos whenever I see a pretty little puppy or kitty face; and I love to run my hands through a horse's tamed mane. It makes me all giddy! After all, I did want to become a veterinarian once upon a time. I still do aspire to one day open my own no-kill animal shelter, too.
Since I am all about the animals, I want to find a way to start investing my time and potential reach to help animals find forever homes. I already volunteer at the animal shelter, but the time I have available to do that is far and few between with my school schedule. {I just walked in the Memorial Day Parade a long with the Dearborn Animal Shelter, plus I helped with the Mutt Strut.} Since the summer is coming up, and I will shortly be getting my license, it would be the perfect opportunity to get my groove on and volunteer a bunch, BUT! But, I am going to California to attend Stanford's Summer College. Thus, I cannot volunteer again until late August. {Sucks, right?} I am going to try to volunteer as much as I can before I leave on June 21st, but I don't know how much I'll be able to. Blech.
Anyways! My point is that I am going to start dedicating certain posts on this blog to adoptable animals around the Michigan area (specifically Dearborn). Remember this post that I wrote about Roxanne? That is am example of what I will be doing. {And good news, y'all! She got adopted!} These posts will be entitled either #adoptaCanine or #adoptaFeline.
Nico is a 14-week-old, male Pit Bull Terrier and American Bulldog Mix. He's still a baby and can only grow more adorable. I mean, just look at that brown spot over his eye. {Swoon!} I have not met the cutie, but I am currently iFostering him, which means that I am spreading the word to get this baby adopted. Nico is in foster care right now, but if you would like to meet him, the shelter is willing to work with you on that. For more facts about Nico, you may find it here.
For $100 including EVERYTHING (spay/neuter, microchip, ID tag, vaccinations, physical/behavior assessment, fecal/worming, and training classes), Nico can become apart of your family. Do not let his breed deter you. Some of the most loving, well-trained dogs are pits. Breed does not matter--it is how you treat an animal that determines whether they will be vicious, loving, etc. A Chihuahua can be the cruelest animal ever, and a Pit Bull an be the nicest. Don't judge a dog by its breed! Love 'em, and he will love you. :)
I want this baby boy to be adopted so badly. He needs a forever home! If you are anywhere around Michigan (or are willing to travel), please contact the DAS and adopt Nico. You will love him!
{Note: Nico is recommended for homes without children younger than 12-years-old.}
