Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Remember earlier this year when I said that I'd like to get outside of my comfort zone? Yeah, me neither. In that post that I actually just linked, it sort of hints at it, but that bullet point specifically touches on meeting new people. Regardless to which one I'd like to claim I actually meant, let's just go ahead and say that I have done both. I have stepped outside of my comfort zone and met new people! {Non-existent goal -- check!} For the former, I went to a few Zumba classes at the Mid-American Fitness Studio. As of now, I stopped going because, well, I do Zumba at home and go to the gym. I guess having to physically get up, leave my house, and go to a class on a time schedule was not very motivating to me. Doing things at my own pace is more like it, which the gym and Zumba at home allows me to do. On the other hand, I've met new people by my closest friend, Nicole. She has introduced me to a few more people that are into Rock and Heavy Metal music {go us!}, and on the 29th of this month, we will all be going to a concert in Saginaw to watch her beau play in his band, Final Confession. Pretty epic, eh?
Getting out of your comfort zone is kind of (read: very) hard to do, especially when you're a homebody like me. I am kidding. I like to get out and do stuff. The adventurous spirit is within me {I mean, I did actually go zip-lining.), and I refuse to let it go! On the other hand, I am still kind of a shy person that has a hard time saying hello to the guy that I'm crushing on (future post on that), won't initiate a conversation with a stranger, and hates to have the spotlight on me. It's half and half, to be honest. Kind of weird, right? I may seem like an overzealous, extrovert of a person, but in reality....yeah, I'm not. I do enjoy partying; I love trying new foods; Traveling is my heart. However, I just cannot deal with my friends telling my crush that "I want the plug," because seriously, whoever invented that saying? I want...the plug. {It's 2014, guys! C'mon. That was 2012/13!} Whatever that means.
I am really motivated to try new things. It just seems like the right thing to do. If I say that I want new friends, then darn it, I need to go out and meet new people. Saying that I want to get a summer job won't do me a darn thing! I need to call the boss at the Paw Print Inn. Oh--and that crush...well, I am still working on. Hahaha! I still need to build a tad bit more confidence before I go and try to talk to him (although he's close friends with my sister). I'm that awkward girl. Cheese!
All in all, getting out of a comfort zone may be downright terrifying (the easiest to put saying), but it is all worth a try. {I am a huge hypocrite! [Just ask Treasure. She'll tell you right off the bat that this is true.] The advice I give is always pretty good, yet I can hardly take it myself. Just stab me in the eyeball with a fork, wouldja?} I am going to try and get out of my comfort zone at least one time per month until the end of the year. Can I do it? Probably not. Will I try my damnedest to? Heck yes! Are you down to try? [You answer that.] Let's all try to get out of our comfort zones at least one time per month! I promise to tell you guys about what I've done before each month is over. Hahah.
For this month, I can already say that I met some new people and went back to the gym (although I was really scared to). What can you say for yourself?
Happy Monday everybody! Three Cheers! {I just had to look up why it's three cheers...Hip, Hip, Horrah!}
