How to Wear A Little Black Dress (LBD)
There are a few investment pieces that every female should have in her closet: a white and black blazer, leather booties, a statement piece of jewelry, the perfect flats, a silk shirt, statement jeans, and the little black dress (LBD). All of these are key pieces that you can throw on to look nice and polished in a minutes notice, even if you are totally out of it for the day!
The Little Black Dress is probably the one that I would recommend having first out of all the pieces listed above. This dress can be used for both formal and casual occasions, which is so beneficial! It is also very easy to accessorize with. Any bold, pastel, or neon color willingly pairs nicely with the LBD ), and patterns are no exception. The LBD comes with some great benefits, too! For one, black instantly creates an illusion to the eye by making something look slimmer/tinier than what it really is. I know as a female that this is really amazing and does wonders (no wonder black is my favorite color!). Two, The Little Black Dress does not take much thought (if any) to wear. With other outfits, you tend to have to think a little harder about what would coordinate and whatnot, but the LBD does not require that. You are as free as you want to choose accessories, purses, jackets, and shoes. Black is one of the most neutral colors (it goes with everything), so have at it!
Ways to wear A Little Black Dress (LBD)
1. Sans jacket and tights. A LBD looks fantastic with or without anything under or above it, but flaunting the dress with no additions is one of the easiest ways to wear it. You do not have to bother with "what looks good with this" or "how do I want to wear this?" It is so simple (not that it isn't already) without anything extra. Jackets and tights are very cute, but sometimes you just have to leave them in your closet and dressers. "Say no to additions" is my motto for wearing a LBD sometimes.
2. All Black. Wearing all black with your LBD can be a total banger! Black is generally my favorite color to wear, so this would be easy for me. But for those of you that need a little bit more motivation to do it, then just know that wearing all black is very chic and can make you look uber classy! Some people feel as if they would look "gothic" or "emo" if they were to wear all-black, but that is not always true! Get something flirty and feminine, such as lace, which will help soften the look up!
3. Pop of Color. Throwing in a pop of color over some neutrals can always make an outfit look fabulous! It can create a fun, fresh look. Try a hot (and bold) color such as red, or if you are not into that, blue can always look great! And think about the new popular "pops of colors" - metallic.
4. Statement Necklace. I love statement jewelry. They are typically unique pieces that can be an eye-catcher, which is what you'd want to go for when wearing a statement piece with your LBD. I personally love a good turquoise and gold necklace, but hey, that's just me.
5. Ankle Boots. If you are interested in a more boho/hippie look, then adding ankle boots can help a bunch!
6. Colorful Tights. Colored tights are such the rage now! Everywhere I go, it seems as if a least one female is donning cute, colorful tights (especially yellow or blue!) and I love the look. With a LBD, you are free to add whatever color you please, which is pretty cool in my opinion!
