What Tattoo Do I Want?
Let's talk tattoos.
Remember when I told you all about what tattoos that I find intriguing? Today, I am going to talk to (well, mostly show) you guys about what tattoos that I am interested in actually getting. In only 102 days, I will be turning sixteen. That's right! On May 1st, I will be hitting the big 1-6. For my birthday, my dad is letting me get a tattoo {finally!} and I could not be more happier. He has been asking me what tattoos that I like and stuff, so I have been thinking really hard about what I would like to get.
You see, my sister got her first tattoo on Sunday. She got an infinity sign with the word 'faith' in it, with birds leading out on the other side. It's really pretty!
It seems as if infinity signs are very popular in the tattoo word as of the past year. I think that it is really nice. However, I don't think that I want an infinity because it is sort of becoming kind of...eh, overused? Some of my options are infinity signs, but I don't know if it'll end up being my choice of tattoo that I get.
*Note: My parents won't let me get a tattoo that is visible because they are afraid that it'll negatively impact me when I look for jobs (whatever; when I turn 18, I am getting a tattoo on my wrist). So, I don't really know where I want my tattoo that won't really hurt because it'll be my first tattoo. I wanted it on my side or foot, but those are pure ribs/bones, so I'll pass as my first tattoo. Any recommendations on where to get it?
a) I think that this tattoo is very self-motivating. This is one of my top choices. Moreover, I think I might wait until I am 18, so that I can get this on my wrist. With this tattoo being something I would see as something that I could look down at and boost myself up a little when I am feeling unmotivated, I would want this visible to me. Sure, I would know that it's on my body, but I would want to actually see it.
b) The classic heartbeat is very pretty. For me, it would signal not giving up on life even when times get really rough. Plus, I like how it's a literal "heart"-beat. Seriously, it's a lovely tattoo.
c) Anchors have always been something that I have always been attracted to. There is just something about anchors that make me like them way more than I think is normal. Add them into an infinity sign, and I think that I am sold. Plus, the "I refuse to sink" is something that I could really dig. This would probably be my number two tattoo option. {Okay, I lied. An infinity sign is something that I just might end up getting.}
d) This tattoo references my outlook on life. Don't stay stuck in the past - learn from it, nonetheless, but just do not stay stuck on what happened then. I like to focus on the now. If I were to get that tattoo, then I would not get it with the birds (they look too much like bats to me in this photo). Even though I know that I could get them changed, I just like the words. It would be simple for me.
e) Music is a real, prominent part of my life. I don't want to sound like I am saying vows, but music has always been there for me, through thick and thin. That is why I love this tattoo so much. It would show how music affects my life - good and bad. My heart beats for music (read that in the most un-dramatic way possible, please).
f) Curiosity has killed me (the cat) more than a million times already. I love to travel and see the world; I love to stick my nose into business that does not concern me; I love to be a completely random soul. I like to think of me trying to figure out myself through the struggles, opportunities, and all parts of life as simply trying to find "me." It does not mean that I am "lost" or "confused" per-say. It just means that I am attempting to find who I really am, which is something that I think more people need to understand. It's how come I like this tattoo so much. It would be a nice reminder for myself to recognize that even through the times in life that I feel confused about who the hell I am to just remember that I am trying to figure it out, but am not lost.
g) I love to smile, and I think that everyone should smile at least ten times a day. If there is no reason to smile, find a reason - that's what I say, at least. Smile for no damn reason if you must, just smile. A smile can do a lot for you. I think that this would be an adorable tattoo (maybe without the heart, though).
h) I made this one by myself in PicMonkey. It is very simplistic, which is what I really adore about it. I think the saying is great to hear daily, and I would love to see this as a reminder to myself to smile. Although I am generally happy person that smiles a lot (just ask anybody that knows me), I sometimes have those days where I feel very unmotivated and sad. Sure, a tattoo that tells me to smile doesn't mean that I will smile, but I could darn well try.
When I get a tattoo, I want to get one because it is meaningful to me. I do not want (and will not get) one that is based on whether someone else might understand it. Nope. Sure, if they ask what it means to me, I will explain it. Otherwise, they can just be confused. Of course not everyone might like the ones above, but I do. I find a meaning in them and would love to have any of them. As I get older, I think I am going to start getting more tattoos (let's see how the pain goes, haha). I already know that I am going to get some piercings, but I think ink is very meaningful and beautiful, which is something that I appreciate a lot.
Do you have any tattoos? Do you want any? If so where (to both questions)
